Peterson’s goal is to prevent suffering on Earth. He has stated that quite clearly. He wants to understand how to prevent the moral catastrophies of Nazi Germany, Maoist China, and Stalinist Russia from ever happening again.

And he has said quite clearly that it was not a top-down imposition of power that caused these genocides. Rather it was the individual moral failings of individuals just like you and I who did not do what we *knew* was right. That’s what snow-balled into the collective catastrophe of Nazi Germany, for example. In other words, if enough individuals had spoken out against Hitler’s ideas and policies, Nazi Germany would never have happened.

As a result, what Peterson wants is to strengthen the individual as a morally-integrated unit who makes conscious choices to tell the truth and act on the truth, no matter what the cost. That’s his goal.

And to say that Peterson’s goal is unclear means you’ve either not actually understand Peterson like you think you have, or else you’ve willfully misrepresented him in service of your own ideological agenda.
